It would be a very embarrassing question to ask. But I did learn something new today: Northwestern offers a physical therapy degree.

It’s a part of the Feinberg School of Medicjne and is one of the best programs in the US!

Geesh!! Who peed in your Cheerio’s?

Not the PP you’re quoting, but s/he has a valid point, somewhat rudely expressed. Why crowdsource a very specific inquiry like this when you could easily get an authoritative answer? It’s not a situation where you’re trying to game the system and don’t want to risk being outed or where you can’t trust the admissions office’s answer.

But how would you even ask that? “Uh, so my husband and I both went to your grad school, is that going to help my kid get in?”

I understand why you were irritated. I don't have Ivy anything (Big 10 all the way!!!) but because most Ivy grad programs are extremely competitive and prestigious, and graduates of those programs are highly sought after, I am surprised that your Ivy would not capitalize on that and consider you a legacy.

Now, if it is important to you to be a legacy, then you might want to visit the bookstore of my Big 10. I think after you buy a tee shirt or maybe even a car decal, they would be HAPPY to call you a legacy! I'm being only a little bit facetious.

I don’t think anyone here would voluntarily visit a Big 10 school’s bookstore unless it’s Northwestern’s, Michigan’s, or, possibly, Wisconsin’s.

This is a parody of white privilege.

No. Doesn’t matter at all.

Princeton PhD now counts as much as BA for legacy purposes (wasn’t true 10+ years ago). Harvard JD doesn’t help wrt undergrad. So, yeah, it’s school-specific (sometimes even within the University) and can change over time.

Depends on the school. At Notre Dame, for example, a grad school alum is just as good as an undergrad. Not the case at many other schools, though. Google it.
