Our daughter is enrolled at TOTH in the toddler class and we absolutely love it. The teachers are warm, friendly and my daughter loves them (she asks why can’t she go to school on the weekend). My daughter is 2.5 and potty trained thanks to TOTH. Her speaking abilities are way ahead of her age. She is also lot more independent and better and managing her big emotions. They spend a lot of time outdoors walking through the neighborhood which my daughter loves. They do a great job at retaining teachers which is so comforting as a parent. I am not sure why all of the negative posts. They have changed directors a few years ago so I can’t speak to things in the past. I can’t say enough good things about the school. Everyone else that has a child enrolled here that we talked to are super happy.

We went to an open house last year and were completely turned off. The Director came off as cold and arrogant. The children were on a walk so we got the chance to see the classroom and I was not impressed. As someone familiar with Montessori there were some pretty key materials that were missing.
They also repeatedly mentioned how they make the classes at random and don’t really have a system. I got the sense that they handpick the children in a way that benefits them. They win best preschool every year because they campaign HARD for it on social media. No other reason. I actually couldn’t believe how disorganized it seemed based on the reputation. I went home to Google to make sure it was the right program.

I attended an Open House a couple of years ago and tried to request a tour to see the school in session. I was refused on the grounds that it’s too disruptive for the children to have outsiders visit, and that I should check out their Facebook page/ Instagram feed. I lost interest at that point because I can’t entrust my kids to a school that won’t let me in and show me what the classes look like.

I have been very unimpressed with the school— the director does not seem to be on top of things and is not very responsive and everything seems so disorganized compared to other preschool options.

We did not send our child there, but we visited and applied last year for the primary classroom at Navy Yard. The upsides, in my view, were a lovely facility with an on-site playground and a nice teacher. The cons were that the day seemed long for our 3-year-old (class gets out at 2, with the option for aftercare), and parking in Navy Yard is horrendous. I was late for the open house because it took me 30 minutes to find a parking spot.
The other aspect of the school that ended up being a turnoff for us, but could be a benefit depending on your perspective, was that the director seemed to REALLY want families who were heavily into Montessori. I'm not a die-hard for Montessori, so it seemed like the wrong fit.
