I found a groupon for the name change service, it really only helps you get organized, gives you access to a bunch of forms and you still do most of the work yourself (going to the DMV, and SS office, some banks require you to come in as well)- but if it seems daunting it is a good place to start!

It is hard. Make sure EVERYTHING matches exactly! I recently got a real id drivers license and had to go back to the DMV 4 times. If you change your name, make sure your social security card matches your passport, which needs to match your license. I had slightly different names on all of them. Sometimes I used my maiden name as a middle name and sometimes I didn't.

haha, yes, was hoping to avoid all of that here. This isn't my first name change, so I know the process, but beyond the social security and DMV, I'm thinking about all of the other places where you need to have it changed - passport, bank, etc... for some reason I thought I saw a long time ago that there's a service that helps but maybe I'm wrong.

Its really not that hard. You take your marriage cert or divorce decree to the social security office. You fill out a paper. They will help you. Then you take your new social security card and name change paperwork to get a new driver's license. It's quite easy.

Is there a service or site that helps with changing your name? I'm a bit overwhelmed thinking about all of the steps. I thought I heard at some point that you could pay for a service and they do a lot of the work for you. Is that a thing?
