I think there is a difference between saying "He's cute" regarding his looks and "He's cute" in regard to wanting to jump his bones.

Lesbian here - I agree that maybe she is bi or figuring our sexual orientation. Maybe she is trying to fit in with her peers. Who knows.

I wouldn't say I 'check out' men - but I certainly can appreciate a good looking man and think some men are very attractive and others not so much. Difference is is that I don't want to have a relationship/be intimate with him.

My cousin who was a lesbian throughout high school and college has been married to a man for 15 years.

Teenagers are trying to figure out who they are.

Used to be you would wait to try out being gay for college, when you were away from your parents, if you were inclined. Tell your daughter if you think the guy is cute, and that it's her decision. Being with a girlfriend right now may feel much safer than having a boyfriend, and she may change her mind later.

Who knows? She's finding her way and identity and that will likely be a lifelong process. Love her for who she is, don't badger-but it is okay to ask polite questions with the caveat that she doesn't have to answer and can tell you if she wants you to stop asking.

I would suspect; maybe she's checking them out because she likes their style and might want to borrow from it, maybe her sexuality is more fluid but right now she needs to solidify her identity by being with women only, maybe she would date a man but doesn't want to think about that because she is with her girlfriend, maybe she's just imagining all the possibilities without interest in acting on them.

My 17 yo DD (who has had a girlfriend for a year now) seems to always be checking out cute young men her age and even tells me "he's cute".... It's a bit confusing. I agree (or not). I'm not quite following her. I guess I look at pretty women (but not in a she's cute checking them out kind of way) but she seems interested. My question is for lesbian women- do you still find guys attractive even though you want to be with women?
