Indeed, you would think with how insane the housing costs are in Burlingame that the schools there would be top notch. Alas, that is not the case.

There are no gifted programs in Burlingame. They do pull outs something like 6x/year. When my DC was in K-2 there, there was no differentiation. DC was the only student in K reading chapter books. Maybe it's different now. This was several years ago.

Lovely place to live, though. I do miss the weather. Not so much the schools. I recall that they had parents volunteer to drive the kids to their field trips because there are no school buses in there.

Burlingame is okay.

We are considering a move to Burlingame from the east coast. Son is currently in kindergarten and is bright (reading and doing math a few grade levels ahead). How are the schools about differentiation and challenging kids who may be ahead? Should we try and rent in certain zoned schools as opposed to others? We are considering McKinley, Franklin, Roosevelt and Lincoln right now. Appreciate any feedback.
