Hell no, they have been banned in Canada and they are not safe for sleep. The only reason they are still on the market in the US is our weak consumer protection laws. https://www.consumerreports.org/child-safety/more-infant-sleep-products-linked-to-deaths/

I have some older kids, and one born after the Dock a Tot came out. I looked at it-didn't buy, I'm just not comfortable with the way it looks to me.

When my babies slept during the day, I either put the in their crib (which was upstairs, if I was up there) or in the pack in play (downstairs) which is a safe sleep surface. For awake time, they were usually in a bouncy seat if I was somewhere in the house where I wasn't doing tummy time (like the kitchen) or in the swing.

Dock-a-tot worked great for us. My baby liked it and found it comfortable for lounging and resting. I never felt like it was unsafe. The people I know in real life who had one also liked it. Yet the people on this board hate on it every time it comes up. Probably bc its a glorified pillow with a fancy cover that costs $175.

The reality of the first 6 months of life is there are many $200 items you can get that will provide you a measure of relief while you are sleep deprived. Just figure out which ones work best for your lifestyle.

Didn’t work. My baby got more pissed off that she could see me and I wouldn’t pick her up.

I loved the boppy lounger. It was a place to stick the baby while on the couch, on the floor so I could go turn over the laundry, etc. But we definitely didn’t use it for sleeping.

When I was in newborn fog I bought one b/c I was going crazy not being able to put LO down for daytime naps - she'd only sleep if I was holding her. So I thought that maybe a dock a tot would work for supervised daytime naps. It didn't work any better than the rock n play that we otherwise used.

I never attempted to cosleep - which maybe people who do love it, but I regret spending the crazy amount of money on it. If anything it did help me watch LO while I showered in the first couple weeks.

I got one as a hand-me-down and also don't get the hype. I used it mostly just as a place to put the baby when he was super small and not rolling at all but I barely used it and used the Rock N Play or boppy lounger more.

I know people who loved them, but they are not safe for sleeping.

I cosleep and even to me those things look dangerous (like the nap nanny a baby can put their face on the side).

What’s up with Dock a Tots? (and similar pillows?) These were not a thing when I had my first and now I see them all over the place! Are they really worth the hefty price tag? I don’t get it!
