Buy one book and read it over and over. My kids love to hear their favorite books over and over. I have them memorized.

Good grief- $200 for books for an unborn? OK, I get the hormones/nesting thing but you need to get a grip. My DH would be sweet for $20 and f---ing nuts over $200.

OP I will tell you that I am a voracious reader. I read to my children everyday from birth to 10 (or so). I read every night to my two girls who are 13 and 11. My oldest is a boy who is 16. He won’t read. He refuses to read. Finds no joy in reading even though I read to him ALL THE TIME.

I find it confusing. But he is his own person.

So stop the crazy. Read a book over and over — which is what every kid demands and be nicer to your DH.

1. He should know better than to be mean.
2. He should know better than to be mean to a hormonal pregnant woman
3. You should know better that you’re pregnant and very emotional about everything
4. $200 is way too much on books. I love books and we have a ton but we had a bring a book baby shower and many many baby books came from places like Marshall’s for $3 and thrift stores and the library.
Reassess what’s really bothering you and don’t set yourself up or your husband up for this sort of thing as it’ll be a long parenting road otherwise.
Same goes for him. Not every battle is with fighting for.

6 months pregnant is tough. Take a deep breath, you’re both going through a lot right now.

Also, check out consignment and thrift stores for used children books. I promise your baby won’t pick up a disease from them and you’ll still get to build their little library. Baby can definitely hear your voice, it’s seeet that you want to read to him.

Not OP but that's exactly why we keep separate accounts. I don't want to argue with DH about his nitro coffee habit.

I get that he shouldn't have yelled at you, but honestly you're going a little overboard here. I'm a book fiend, and I can't remember ever spending that much in one trip, especially for kids books. You both messed up here, and it may be time for you to watch your spending.

Read street signs and restaurant menus to your baby - it's not going to know the difference at this point in time. There will come a time where you can delve a little deeper, but $200 on books for a fetus is quite nuts.

200 bucks on books for a baby who is not even born is overkill. Just check some books out of the library!

What was suppose to be a fun trip to commemorate Autumn has turned for the worse this evening.

My husband literally just fought me over buying books for our baby boy.
I’m currently 6 months pregnant and have been nesting like crazy.

We do not have a lot of books for him and we’ve started slowly adding things and my goal

Anyways, my husband flat out thinks they’re a waste and said he would go half on the amount we
spend. Well I miscalculated one book by $5 dollars and at the register he said rudely” you owe me this amount, I’ll get it from you later!@

It was humiliating. I was overjoyed browsing books for our baby and he ruined what was suppose to be a fun experience. II cried as soon as I got out of the store and told him he was being a jerk and I wanted to go back to the hotel

We did spend close to $200 on books and he felt like it was a waste of money. I told him our son can never have too many books

I didn’t buy all the books I wanted because I was trying to be respectful of his wishes. My calculations were off and he paid a little more than me and gave me grief at the counter about it and basically ruined my night. These are books we’re buying now toys!

All I want is for our son to have wonderful reading memories. I never had a good relationship with reading; I wasn’t read to as a child. I don’t want that for him. He made it about money when it was suppose to be a fun memorable experience.
