Do you know who any of the boys/young men were, who attacked you?

The statute of limitation for sexual assault cases may not have run out.

Even if you can't prove anything, you could disrupt their lives for a time.

OP, that's a brutal story. I am so sorry that campus police didn't investigate and bring the criminals to justice. I am sorry that no one supported you and that you couldn't receive emotional support and felt you could not be supported if you told someone about how you were sodomized. I have a 17 year old son and I cry to think how devastated I would be if he were attacked in the way you were.

Holy shit, that is one harsh story. I do think you are a hero, and also that you lived through something brutal. Have you ever gotten therapy? You might want to consider it. I'm so happy for you that you went on to be academically successful despite this trauma. I do think (female here) that rape culture negatively affects us all.

OP I am so sorry for what happened to you. I am in tears. I am a mom of a 17 year old and you saved that girls life that day. I cannot believe this happened to you. I hope you are in a happier place now. I wish for your healing. My heart aches for you.

I'm so sorry this happened to you. It's easy to forget that there are good guys out there and that bad things also happen to guys, not just women. I hope you are able to make peace with what happened and know you did the right this g for that girl, even though the wrong thing happened to you.

I also have a story. As I look at our representatives in our government getting ready to confirm Kavanagh, it has brought everything back. This is been a very difficult few weeks for me.

I was 19 -- just about 20. Male. In college at a school with Tech in its name.

There was a party in a on-campus frat house...a lot of beer (drinking age was 19 then). Because it was 1983 and Tech was in the name, there were very few females at this school. Surprisingly, there were a several girls at this party. One was really really wasted. She was incoherent. She also looked young. Too young. I heard these two guys -- members of the frat talking about how she is just about ready. How this would be their lucky night. It was 1983, and date rape was unknown. I looked at her and said that she is too young, and that she is drunk. He grabbed her and she said unequivocally No. I said, lets get you home.

I got her out of the party. She could not give me her name or her number, but in her purse was a learner's permit. She was 15. From her name, I called information from a pay phone, and got her number. I called her parents who picked her up quickly. They thanked me....offered me a reward which I refused.

I went back to my room feeling pretty good about myself.

This was right before finals, I took my finals and went home for winter break; I came back about 4 weeks later and found my dorm room trashed....graffiti on the wall saying "Homo", and "Fag". I called the campus security who did nothing.

Over the next several weeks, guys would come up to me, telling me I must be gay for "blocking" them. Again, this was (now) 1984.

It seems to be escalating, campus security does nothing.

Then, one Sunday night day in early February, I am jumped by 5 guys and dragged in to the woods. I am tied to a tree and stripped naked. And sodomized with an inanimate object. It was clear that this was retribution for the events at the party in December. I have never told anyone about the sodomy.

I called the police and campus security. Nothing happened. I crashed emotionally, and ended up dropping out of college. (That ended ok, as I finished at a much better college and went on to earn my PhD).

I thought I had put it behind me. Then these few weeks happen.
