Well they have to take IB. Do they take new OOB students?

Yes, and it was for prek, so no IB guarantee

when I moved to dc mid-year a couple years ago, at least one Stuart-Hobson feeder accepted OOB kids after Christmas. we were #1 at Bridges and begged for a seat and knew kids had left that grade and they didn't budge. But many schools have had leadership changes since then, so ymmv.

I know someone who was called off the waitlist to Bridges, I think in December, so they seem to or they used to.

CMI doesn't, or at least didn't in my child's class last year.

TR does.

I think late movement is most likely if there are siblings of currently enrolled students on the waitlist. Otherwise, don't expect much. As schools fill up, there is less and less of a domino effect on the waitlists.

Also, schools have an enrollment cap and/or a physical building cap. There may be a seat in a particular room but they won't fill it if it would put the total population over the cap.

We're #2 and #4 at two schools we'd love to be in.

OH and when you say call the school--do you suggest asking to speak to the Principal? or...?

Ask for the registrar and say you can be there with documents tomorrow AM.

Most stop Oct 5th. If you are close to the top, call the school today! They may be scrambling last minute

Is it DCPS or Charter? Most charters do not move after count day.

Hi all... I'm confused about whether there's a cut-off moment where schools stop taking new students?
We're #2 and #4 at two great schools but have been stalled there for a while, I know this is probably just because folks have settled where they want to be and arent moving much, but wondering whether there's some official point at which schools stop accepting new people off wait lists or permitting transfers?
Thanks
