Leave it be- they are native and lots of them live in wooded suburban neighborhoods.

Ok great! I was worried he/she couldn’t get out but good tonknownthey can lol

Yes, they can dig pretty far under a fence, actually. THey eat fruit, greens, slugs. Enjoy him/her and keep it safe while s/he is visiting. Please don't take it in as a pet, though.

Male Eastern box turtles have bright red or orange eyes; females have dark red or brownish eyes. (Just so you can think of an appropriate name your new friend)

Easten box turtles are a threatened species. Consider its presence as a sign of the good health of your yard/neighborhood.

We moved into our new house a week ago. The yard is fenced in, saw a box turtle a few days ago and thought it left. But now it’s back, sunning itself during the day. I don’t mind it at all, but I’m thinking it’s stuck in my yard? There are lots of bushes and shade and room under a shed. I don’t want to put it outside the fence Incase it gets in the road and gets run over. Anyone else have a turtle living in your yard? Lol
