OP here. We got the profile over the weekend, so today we had a chance to talk to our clinic and agency and both agree that 12 month wait should be enough. So I think I am comfortable as long as the transfer is somewhere around march/apr but not beyond that. So so far everything seems OK. Thanks all who took the time to reply

That's so long that it seems highly improbable that you wouldn't match again well before then. I would pass.

That is a very long time to have to wait to start. She will still have to go through the GC medical screening at your clinic before transfer, and if for whatever reason she doesn't pass you will again be at square one. Just something to think about.

Would I wait that long? Probably not unless I really really liked that particular candidate. But I would go with a proven surrogate for a lot of reasons, but mostly because it's shown they've done it before and that would probably give me some sense of confidence in her and the process. To me it's worth the extra money a proven surrogate might charge. This is coming from someone that's just starting to look for their GC. I would talk with a RE though before making your decision, it might be possible to shave off some time for the 18 months. I have seen some people do it after a year in some of the surrogacy groups I'm in.

Our agency sent us our first GC profile. She seems great in terms of BMI, smooth natural pregnancies and everything else seems excellent based on my fertility center's very strict standard. She is also repeat Surrogate ( we never asked for repeat surro as we wanted to find a match quickly ) .
However she had her last delivery in feb 2018 (as GC). That is too soon! That means we have to wait longer for embryo transfer, ie august 2019. We are not at all thrilled about waiting that long but we are worried that if we don't move forward with her then it might be longer till we get our next match. What would you do in this situation ? would you wait or try a new GC? would it be OK/safe to reduce the time from 18 months to 12-14 months instead?
