Make it work. The right speech therapist is so hard to find.

Ok thanks all. I think I’ll stick with her for a few weeks and see if it’s not too disruptive.

Do you think your DC is learning a lot from the speech therapist? My DC has seen MANY of speech therapists that he likes, but honestly, only 1 or 2 are VERY effective in addressing his issues.

It depends on whether the appointments are worth missing the last 45 minutes of school twice a week.

At 4, its preschool and not a big deal to miss. They reserve the evening and afternoon slots for older kids who are actually in school. You are going to have a hard time finding a provider who has better hours as the good ones have kids who keep their slots for years. Make it work and ask when a better time opens can you have it.

It depends on what the speech issue is, IMO and whether the child is making demonstrable / measurable progress (how long has your child been in therapy? if more than 6 months you should have a written progress report with data).

But any child who is doing 2 speech sessions a week presumably has a significant delay or disorder. A good rapport with the clinician is worth a lot, but not if the child isn't making progress.

If you have a provider who is helping your child, that they like working with? That is gold and hard to find and worth cutting out of preschool early for, IMO.

My 4 year old DD is in speech twice a week. The speech therapist just changed her schedule around and only has availability during preschool hours so DD would Miss the last 45 min of school twice a week. She LOVES going to speech so I’m Wondering if I should make this work or find one with a more convenient. Any thoughts?
