You're not that liberal if you're voting for Hogan. I'm a liberal Democrat and I will vote for Jealous.

Sure, so the next time Trump passes the Muslim ban or appoints a Supreme Court justice with a problematic sexual assault history, remember that you're complicit in those actions. Hogan refused to speak out against the Muslim ban, and removed any citizen feedback asking him to do so (which led him to get sued by the ACLU and lose because he was censoring a public forum). He also immediately refused to have Maryand police participate in any investigations of the Kavanaugh sexual assault allegations.

Gov. Larry Hogan on Friday ruled out involving the Maryland State Police in any investigation of allegations that U.S. Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh sexually assaulted a 15-year-old girl more than 30 years ago in Montgomery County.

The Republican governor was asked at a news conference about a letter Democratic state Sen. Cheryl Kagan of Montgomery sent him. She urged Hogan to take the step because the White House has not ordered the FBI to look into the allegations made by Christine Blasey Ford about Kavanaugh’s actions at a high school party.

Hogan said he had not heard about the request, but he immediately turned it down.

“The Maryland State Police will not be getting involved in this,” he said. Hogan did not elaborate on his reasons.

You keep doing that. You keep spinning this article by excluding the following paragraph that is critical:
Spokesmen for state and county police said Friday they would not investigate unless they received a complaint — which they said has not happened. State police also said that, in any case, they have an agreement with county police that means local officials investigate such crimes in their jurisdiction.

The State Police have a standing policy that they will not interfere in local jurisdictions cases unless they are requested to do so by that jurisdiction. So, it is a Montgomery County case unless the Montgomery County police specifically ask the MD State Police to participate.

So, you are trying to make Hogan look like he is playing politics, whereas he is actually doing the opposite. He is pointedly staying neutral on national politics, keeping his focus on MD state. If he were to direct MD State Police to break their standing policy and to interfere in a County matter, then he would be doing what you accuse him of, namely, playing partisan party politics.

It's sad that people like you keep trying to twist the news into saying what it doesn't say. Hogan still has nearly a 20 percent lead over Jealous as a Republican in a heavily Democratic state. That's because he is a moderate Republican. Both parties have strayed so far from center that neither one can recognize a centrist any more.

I know it would never happen, but if Hogan came out as an Independent I'd vote for him in a second. He's popular enough that he would probably still win re-election as an Independent. I'm just so disgusted by the Republican party in general that I can't vote for anyone who would associate themselves with it, at the local, state, or national level.

I agree with you, but unfortunately no. I am leaning towards Hogan. I like him more than Jealous and I think I can get over the R since it is a state race. Not sure I could do the same if this were a House or Senate race.

Short answer- no.
It's rational Hogan, and as you said "ultra-progressive" Jealous. So choose wisely.
