Absolutely. I am sure the BOE would feel very comfortable with a calendar that didn't comply with the EO if Jealous won. But, it looks unlikely that that is going to happen.

So stupid to have Monday, June 15 the last day of school.

Results of the survey were discussed at a July policy management committee meeting. They indicated general preferences regarding days off and public/common knowledge (or lack of knowledge) about MCPS regarding absence from school for religious holidays as it impacts make-up work, attendance awards, etc. They talked for a while, but it wasn't a lot of real information... said the staff would come up with a couple of calendar options to present in a future meeting (which was the September meeting, as a PP said).

Kind of amusing that 12/23 is off as it would be likely a high absence day but the 1/2 day on 6/15 is just fine.

Both options have the last day of school as a Monday, which seems pretty useless. Other than that, I like option 1 (longer break).

The governor’s executive order is still in effect as of now and the individual school districts have no say in when they start - it has to be after Labor Day.

Scenario 1 = long spring break

Scenario 2 = short spring break

I prefer the longer break.

Which scenario do you think they will adopt?

This was discussed at the recent policy committee meeting. There are two scenarios, and both still have school starting the day after Labor Day.
