I agree with you OP.

I let it go and try to show it to the kids and have them find the errors! My one older kid likes this. I try to keep my frustration hidden and just comment that everyone makes mistakes and it’s good to proofread when you can.

Really? I’d volunteer to do this for the PTA, but why would I volunteer to do this for the Principal’s newsletters?

Part of his job is to communicate with parents.

The reading specialist at our Mcps elementary had a glaring typo in her subpar PP at btsn.

Even better: they misspelled principal in the pp at btsn at our middle school (Rosa Parks).

Public school is so awful.

I thought editing was a big part of the mcps tech heavy prep for future secretaries and cubicle drones?

We all want a swift, if not immediate reply from someone who is also trying to see to the needs of a lot of children. I’m not worried about cosmetic issues as long as the information is accurate, useful, and clear. If the grammatical issues interfere with understanding the info, it is worth speaking up. Otherwise, I’d find something else to nit pick.

You know there is an overall deterioration of standards in the world when Cathay Pacific can’t even spell its name correctly on one of its planes.

DP here. I've been dismayed by grammar and spelling mistakes coming directly in emails from teachers.

But I kind of fondly remember the sloganeering back-to-school powerpoint with a hilariously glaring error on one slide promising the school's commitment to excellence on every level.

Have you ever written to the AskMCPS email for information? The amount of misspellings in their response was truly horrific.

Yeah, anything that isn’t edited by someone other than the writer will have some typos and other errors. We know what we meant to write and our brains fill it in. I always have someone else read my professional writing even if only for typos rather than substantive comments. My husband's documents go through like 5 levels of review before they go out.
