What's the rush? I wouldn't do it no matter how mature the 16 is. Why don't you take her and friends when you have time to vacation with them?

If we were parents of one of the other girls and we found out you did this, we probably would report you to law enforcement or CPS. My husband and I would be very angry with you. It is one thing for you to do this to your kid (it is wrong but it is your choice to make); it is entirely another thing to do it to someone else's kid.

Sure, if you want to teach them and support the idea that the rules don't apply to them.

So you’re going to drive 4 hours down there to spend 5 minutes check some teenagers into a hotel, leave and then drive back 4 hours? And then you’ll do the same 2 days later when you pick them up? Did I get that right?

The hotel would likely never now -- unless there was a problem.

Agreed. If they are good, responsible kids, and know what to do in an emergency, I don’t see the harm. Make sure they work together to be aware of surroundings when entering/exiting their room. Don’t use stairs, etc.

They can wait until they're 18. Work on delayed gratification, and all that.

Legally, they have to be 18 to rent a room and you must show ID when you check in. It’s a liability issue and you can’t “contract” with anyone under 18. Is someone she’s going with 18?

No.

I doubt most places will let them check in, even with a credit card.

My 16 year old DD and two friends want to go to Colonial Williamsburg for the weekend. I have to work, are they allowed to stay in a hotel for two nights by themselves? My DD and her friends are very mature for their age, and I'm confident they can handle it.
