What Boys’ Latin has always offered is a nurturing environment. When I attended BL that was the case, and it remains true today. A boy is not just a number at BL. The teachers truly care about the young men. That is true for the classroom as well as the athletic fields. There is now a boarding component at Boys’ Latin. The dorm rooms are gorgeous. BL is uber competitive in lacrosse. 🥍

We are a DC family with relatives who have had 2 of their boys at BL. The boys thrived and the parents were very, very happy with the experience. I agree with the PPs who say it is not a pressure cooker school.

BL has a reputation as a good school for boys with learning disabilities and differences.

I know families that consider BL a first choice. It is a great school for boys who do best in a small classroom environment, moving through material at a more relaxed pace. Also consistently has the best boy’s lacrosse team.

Baltimore parent here. I agree with the PP. Gilman is #1 academically for all boys' schools in Baltimore. I loved Boys' Latin and wasn't expecting to like it so much. I think they have more boys there with learning issues than other schools though. Little to no FA in the lower grades so there were really small class sizes when I applied for my son in 2010. I think they had something like 10 boys in kindergarten when we toured that year.

Definitely on the upswing, though I still think it’s last choice for parents also considering Gilman, St Paul’s, McDonogh. Doesn’t mean it’s not a nice school able to provide solid education though. Know a number of pp with boys there who are quite happy with it - not nearly the pressure cooker Gilman is.
