Colby dropped because US News adjusted its formula to reward schools who are successful in enrolling and graduating an economically diverse student body. Colby is less economically diverse than many other SLACs.

I knew that, and that was the point -- that it wasn't in fact something that changed lowering the educational quality of Colby.

I don't know why Colby is less diverse than others, and I wish it wasn't as I think economic (and racial) diversity are good things. But the suggestion that Colby is less of an excellent college this year than last is complete and utter bullcrap.

DS doesn't text us and we only get a weekly Facetime so how would we know! My spouse accused me of worrying about the same things I did when he went to kindergarten. Will he make friends? (Yes) Will he eat right? (No) Will he dress himself appropriately? (No)

He arrived on campus with friends from high school and camp so he has not been lonely and he has already had a couple visitors. But he has accepted that it will take a while to find a broader circle of new friends. DS is perturbed how pre-professional most of the students are. Because I suggested that he take an easy course load this fall, he said that the workload looks lighter than high school and he is pretty (over)confident about academics. He expressed surprise about how frequently money/expenses/work-study are brought up by classmates. And I was shocked when he said he felt extremely privileged and grateful not to have to worry about those things. So maybe he already learned a valuable life lesson!

NP, but would love it if posters could include the name of the school. And if those who just want to debate rankings could take it to another thread.

Happy that your daughter is doing well but, really don't understand the post. If I tell you my kid is hating it or loving it how does that affect you and your daughter?

OP, mine had a rocky first two weeks but I’m seeing a change. He could’ve come home for the storm and he said no.

Yep. My boy/girl twins picked colleges about an hour away from each other. They're each very happy.
