Toyota RAV4. Reliable, practical, takes 87.
OP here--nope, i'm in an ML 350.... I like the RAV4, actually, but only the Camry got the "super" safety ratings. wonder why that is? I have 3 family members with RAV4s, all love that car
So the safety ratings are misleading in the sense that they can only be used to compare to cars in the same class...i.e. a Camry is "super safe" compared to the Accord, Altima, Passat, etc not anything larger or heavier. A heavier car with a higher occupant seating position will generally almost always fare better in an accident.
The RAV4 appears to get IIHS Top Safety Pick but not TSP+. In a real-world scenario where not everyone on the road is in the same class of car as you the safer choice is still going to be the RAV4.
