It is better they do this now. I didn't rebel until my late 20s/early 30s when I told my parents exactly what I thought of them
They have since disinherited me for being a Democrat, they wont have anything to do with their grandkids, or have much contact. I probably would have been disinherited anyhow but I think I would have been healthier younger if I had rebeled the moment I was out from under their thumb in my early 20s.

Just think of this as a 'maturation period'.

No one "graduates" college as this would mean she graduated the buildings, campus, etc .One is GRADUATED FROM an institution of learning!

This is a human adult you're talking about. This may be rebellion: maybe they went to a conservative school or their parents put strict requirements on them in order to receive school funds. Maybe they had a long term partner but are now free to date as they please. But whatever the reason, it sounds like normal experimentation of a young adult trying on different styles and ways of living. If you are concerned that they aren’t practicing safe sex, that’s a valid concern. But otherwise, I think this is a case of you being too judgmental.

Having one night stands is not "rebellious." It is sexual activity. If that's not for you, fine, but it's not a statement against her parents. Ditto body piercing and hair dye.

The fact that you see this as "rebellion" speaks to your issues, not hers.

None of that sounds very rebellious to me and I’m about as milquetoast as they come.

Are you from the ME? How do you know what’s acceptable for a foreigner in the ME? Why do you view their choices as rebellious? Are you considerably older, because it sounds that way. I think you should be happy for them. They have a college degree and now they are off on an adventure that includes seeing some of the world. It sounds ideal and I hope they value the experience.

I was catching up with a cousin who just graduated college and is heading overseas. They were telling me all about their one night stands from the summer, showing me their new piercings, and told me about their plans to dye their hair green before they leave. Side note, they are heading to the ME where none of this will be accepted like it is here.

I had so many things running through my mind as they were telling me everything. Overall I was quiet, just telling myself we were really at different stages of life. With that said I never reached this level of rebellion and everyone grew up by the time they graduated. This one just seems to have just started the freedom-train.

So honest question, what is with it when it starts as soon as college ends? Is it short? I'll take any stories. I've managed to talk them out of dying all of their hair, just one small section... for the sake of style. I'm more worried about this newfound attitude mixed with where they're about to go.
