A lot of them work long hours so their wife can stay at home and go to the gym at 10 am.

What does he do that irks you so much? I suspect that DH isn’t liked very much by neighbors because he’s not afraid to tell people their grass needs mowing, they need HOA approval, etc.


He told my neighbor with cancer that she was the laziest person he ever saw, because she did not shovel her entire driveway every time it snowed (she has no car). He has been caught trespassing on property by more than one person. Neighbor came to him with medical issue and asked for a ride to the E.R.- declined. These kinds of things have rubbed me, and others, the wrong way.

Yeh. I know one women, a successful and attractive executive, who is married to an older man who, from what I can tell, a complete loser. He works, barely, so she brings home all of the bacon. He is overweight somewhat and not particularly attractive. He has no money. Simply do not understand.

The guys I know like this are all without fail nice (at least in public). They're not the type of guy to get in a bar fight or do anything too risky (like a tattoo sleeve/get a harley). They're just humdrum guys with good jobs. The wives generally have equally 'good' jobs.

None of them are rich though. They do have faults (aside from the weight and thinning hair) - one absolutely cannot hold his liquor - he passes out so quickly its embarrassing, one will not leave his house unless work is involved, another one makes bad choices - bought a polaris slingshot on credit, and the fourth is at his mother's beck and call every weekend.

They're nice guys. They just don't really inspire much admiration.

Why are you judging these men by how they look? Why not judge them by their kindness, generosity, ability to forgive, humor, etc? Is marriage solely focused on looks and athleticism to you? If you're going to be shallow, well, you might as well go to the max and ask how long their third leg is.

I judge your husband by how shallow you are. Sheesh.

This. DH has put 30 pounds over the years. At the time we started dating he had more hair than a guy in his 25 and made the time to work out at the gym 3 x week.
Please don’t judge me by the way my husband looks.
