I wouldn’t bother unless you need to drop off school supplies or if you can’t attend back to school night. The same sign up sheets will be out then.

I think it's fine to go, but do not expect to chat with the teacher. The purpose of that session is for the children to get comfortable and the teacher's attention should be on the kids, not on the parents.

I am going for my rising K. It's in the middle of the day so I am just popping over and leaving him in camp

OP here - thanks all! Mine are in Extended Day so no complicated instructions, but I'm leaning toward going so I can briefly meet the teacher and maybe take a quick photo for my son. I wish the two classes weren't during separate time slots mid/late morning but oh well.

I was going to say no, but it’s worth it if your kid has any special instructions for coming home. It’s hard to convey that stuff over email depending on the teacher.

Last year my kid’s 2nd grade teacher had a variety of sign up sheets at the open house, plus school ID tags to hang on the rear view mirror for pickup and drop off. I’d probably go, even without kids, because it’s hard to say what a particular teacher might offer in the way of useful information, volunteer opportunities, etc.

I also agree with going. You could find your K student's desk and locker and take pictures. PLus you could see who else is in their classes.

Go, even for 5 minutes. The teacher might have a bus sign up sheet where you filling it out beforehand could make things easier.

Kids will be starting 3rd and K...currently out of town with my parents.

Should I go to Open House this Thursday without them? I don't know if it would be useful just to see / meet the teachers, see who all will be in their classes, etc. My younger one is a bit nervous about starting school, so I could show him a couple photos of his class, etc.

Or would it be weird to show up with no kids?
