I realize growing up is such a challenge at times, but today is a new day. You can always try again.

LOL. You're dealing with a lost and sad puppy, that one.

True. I guess insecure people have to put others down to make themselves feel better about their own choices.

This is a non sequitur. Original poster (or you) posted untrue garbage. Subsequent posters called him (or you) out. Perhaps they inferred he cleaned toilets, judging by all of the crap he (or you) posted. Whomever it is, they are masterful in sculpting a load of BS.

Nice try, though. Now get back to your respective clubs and stop peddling crap.

Good point. Where are the EDP DA schedules? Season supposedly starts in 10 days. Any EDP parents heard anything? Heard that WS players don't even know who is on DA team and who is on EDP

Dont you guys have a parent sideline group meeting to attend?

Dont blame me for the cluster f@ck. I'm just pointing out the obvious.

Enjoy your 50 man roster size, 100 kids on a half of a field, lack of team practice and all the L's that come with it.

A bad reputation doesn't attract quality players. They'll soon find out.

What you just said is all BS. Now get back to your custodial position. Oh, school hasn't started yet, I forgot. Guess you'll be back onto your day job and off these boards in a few days.

How is this that big of a deal?

That is my point exactly. People are panicking over one friendly and one practice. That's a little unfair given all the good things Spirit has done and what I see on the horizon as well. This will be a good year for all teams. People just need to take a deep breath and trust the process.

Washington Spirit 04's continue to be a disaster. Roster is still at 28 - just embarrassing bringing 25 (3 not available) to NJ for a scrimmage this past weekend. Coach is new and doesn't know the kids names or positions and the first game is in 10 days. To boot the technical director was promoted to the pro team Head Coach earlier today, so I am sure his time with the DA teams will be extremely limited. Practice fields are overcrowded and the girls sit for 1/3rd of the practice because there are just too many players. Everyone is regretting the decision to go with Spirit this year.

This is tough to read considering the amount of Money the families are spending

Players sitting for 1/3 of the practice would have me pulling my hair out (if I still had any )!

Hmmm, so a couple of things:

1. The teamsnap is at 28, but the roster is not (and this is all very specific to the 04 group). That's not even legal within the DA. A portion of those girls are EDP and are on both teamsnaps. Ultimately the DA roster will be 18-20. None of the other teams have that many (in most cases because there is no EDP).
2. I was there yesterday and never saw girls in any age group sitting other than when they went to get water and to say 1/3 of practice is at best a gross exaggeration.
3. I will acknowledge Mondays are a day they need to work on simply because that's the one day all the teams are at Lake Fairfax. Wednesdays the U19s are elsewhere and Thursdays don't have the U13s (who practice on Fridays). That said, there was really only one small period of some congestion when the U13s & 14s were wrapping up while the U15s and 17s were showing up (which is partly mitigated by the fitness training).
4. Also, I would give Tom Torres a chance to work out the promotion before we start crapping on it as if he's already gone.

As a Spirit parent from last year, I actually think things are overall much better than last year and it's one practice. Give time (and perhaps feedback to Spirit directly) about the Monday practices. We practiced last Wednesday and Thursday without any of these issues so while I'm sure there are some kinks to work out, it's not quite as this post reads, respectfully. This sounds more like a panicked parent to me.

With the season about to kick-off I thought it would be a good time time to start a thread just on the Girls DA this year, for those of us who are interested.

There were some posts in other threads strongly implying that Wash Spirit VA was about to implode. (ex: http://www.dcurbanmom.com/jforum/posts/list/630/672072.page).
Rosters of 28 doesn't sound good if that's true. Anyone with the inside scoop care to dish some info? How about Lisa Cole, the former Boston Breakers head coach who was brought in to coach the 05s? Is she any good? Any ideas why it was Tom Torres instead of her who was tapped as interim head coach when they fired Gbarra?

Speaking of coaches and rosters, how are things looking over at Arlington? The coaching staff seems top level, especially with Candace Chapman working with all of the teams now. Rumors earlier were that a lot of their top Red team players decided to stay put and say no to the DA, but I found it hard to believe that many parents accustomed to their players being at a high level would voluntarily stay on what has now become the B team.

How about FCV? They seemed to have the strongest teams in the area last year. Has there been much turnover? Have there been any significant changes now that Bobby Puppione is in charge?

Notable dates coming up:

9/15 - Arlington v SpiritVA (U14-15)
9/29 - SpiritVA v FCV (all ages)
11/10 - FCV v Arlington (U14-15)
