Teen boys are built differently than little boys or preteens.

He needs to be in young mens sizes, not boys 16. She said he is thinner and muscular. A size 16 is for a chubby pre teen boy, not an athletic teenager.

OP, he is at the point where you need to be shopping waist size/inseams, not by age.

Try American Eagle. You will have good luck there.

My son switched over to men’s sizing around 5’4” and 120 lbs. Your son should definitely be shopping in the men’s department now. I’m surprised that a 5’8” teen is even willing to walk into the little boys section.

Look for athletic cut. Most major brands have them...hollister, American Eagle, dockers, etc.

Have you tried adult sizes? My son who is 5'8" and 125 lbs wears a 29x30 at Old Navy.

My DS is 5‘7“ and 135 pounds. He wears men’s size pants, and he has for a at least a year. Currently he’s wearing 33 32. Yes, they do have to be hemmed. You won’t find pants that are the exact length that you need anymore. Buy the size your child needs for his waist and hips and then shrink the pants and get them hemmed if you need to. I have been doing a very very big hem so they last him.

OP, what is the issue with fit? That will help inform advice. Too slim? Too husky? Too long? Too short?

For example, mine has grown out of the boys sizes in length, but is skinny (boys size 20 is both too big and too short). So we moved to J Crew men's 28x32 slim fit. We can get away with Old Navy men's 30x32 with a belt, but they don't look as nice.

Is he overweight or slim? Old Navy usually works well for slim. Gap? Ralph Lauren?

I like the Izod pants from JCP. They come in variations of reg./slim/husky. Some are plain cotton, some have a bit of stretch to them. Pleated or flat front.

Can someone please recommend some khaki pants for a teen boy. Mine can't fit any of his old navy pants anymore so I'm looking for a different brand.
