DD 12 talks about a boy much more than any others, and brings him up in all sorts of conversations, so I am pretty sure she has a crush on said boy, but when I probed she just rolled her eyes and said "mooom, we're just friends!". They do text (she has an iPod), but it's all innocent, about TV shows and friends and whatnot, and mostly just sending emojis back and forth. She just got a phone as she is heading into 7th grade, so we'll see how that changes things.

What? So a girl stalks a boy and it’s te boys fault?

One was a late bloomer: 14. The other is a lesbian and started mildly crushing on other girls around 11.

I can tell you I got my first crush on a boy in 3rd grade, so about 9. I had no idea what sex was or how any of it worked, but I remember intensely liking the kid.

Boy only mom. Girls are innocently flirting at 12 and boys are clueless. Girls are essentially stalking 14-15, spamming in text and DM and my DS is still clueless!

6th grade. Most of her friends have crushes or “boyfriends.”

My 15-year old is only just now getting interested. My 13-year old has zero interest.

Kindergarten on the first question, 7th on the second (which is when we allowed a phone). But the who like whom chatter started in earnest in late 4th - 5th.

13 yr old DD and her BFFs still think boys are annoying but I know some of her classmates were having crushes in 4th-5th grade. Lots of variation.

Don’t have a daughter but boys were definitely on my mind at 10/11. Instead of texting we were writing notes though.

My DD just turned 11 and is starting 6th grade, she hasn't really gotten into boys yet. I'm hoping that continues to wait a while!

She started talking about the boys she thought were "cute" and had a crush on in 4th grade. She was embarrassed and devastated when one found out she had a crush. Now, going into 7th grade, she's pretty boy crazy. She has one very best friend and they talked a ton this summer about who is dating, who's kissed who, who got hot over summer.

Yep, 6th grade sounds about right.
