FWIW, I have a Fitbit right now and love the step tracking/calories burned functionality, so the fitness aspect of the watch really appeals to me.
I love mine, but I exercise a lot and use it for that. I run Strava on my watch and use an app for tracking my workouts in the gym. It's also nice when riding my bike to see who is calling/texting w/o having to pull out my phone. My battery life has been great; generally charge it for a bit every morning when I'm in the shower and the occasional one hour charge and it never runs out. It tracks steps walked, flights climbed, resting heart rate etc.
I had a Fitbit Iconic before getting the iWatch. It had slightly better built in fitness functionality and better battery life, but it's pretty poor as a smart watch.
