Except it’s not a traditional inauguration.

He doesn’t deserve a military parade.

Trump collected that much but there’s no possible way he spent that much on his paltry inauguration.

The grown-ups at the Pentagon said no to trump's ridiculous parade because they don't expect him to be around much longer.

Excellent!

Has anyone provided a reason to have such a parade? Even $20 million would be better spent with on veterans’s health care so why would we spend even that much on this parade?

Well Trump used that figure. But I agree that Trump often seems like he’s smoking something.

From the New York Times.

According to a cost breakdown provided by the city to The New York Times, 18 local agencies would share the cost of the $21.6 million price tag, including more than $13 million for the Metropolitan Police Department for security measures. The city is typically reimbursed for such expenses by the federal government.

The costs that would be incurred by Washington represent about 23 percent of the total, according to officials’ estimates. That would leave about $70 million that federal agencies would need to cover — agencies that the president oversees directly.

Estimates are often based on past costs for similar parades. For the 2017 inauguration, which included a parade, officials estimated that it would cost the city $20 million, according to The Washington Post. Federal agencies put up millions of dollars, as well. Most of the costs are security-related expenses.

+1. Re Obama's: Obama's 2009 inauguration was estimated to cost $170 million, or $190 million today after factoring in inflation, and the federal government paid over $100 million just for security during the 2005 and 2009 inaugurations.Jan 18, 2017

The problem is, when Bowser et al are accused of crony chiseling when it comes to federal funds, it kind of rings true.

Except in this case its not true. The numbers are out there.

Looks like we can thank Bowser for helping to cancel this colossal waste of $. Let's hope some of this $ gets reallocated for health care for veterans.

http://thehill.com/policy/defense/402297-trump-cancels-military-parade-plans-to-attend-parade-in-paris
President Trump on Friday said that he was canceling plans for a military parade, blaming a $92 million price tag and local politicians in Washington, D.C.

The cost of the parade had appeared to be escalating, with reports on Thursday estimating it would be $80 million more than previously estimated at a time of rising debt.

Trump said "local politicians" in D.C. were responsible for the cost in announcing the cancelation, though he offered no specific evidence.

"The local politicians who run Washington, D.C. (poorly) know a windfall when they see it. When asked to give us a price for holding a great celebratory military parade, they wanted a number so ridiculously high that I cancelled it. Never let someone hold you up! I will instead attend the big parade already scheduled at Andrews Air Force Base on a different date, & go to the Paris parade, celebrating the end of the War, on November 11th," Trump wrote.

"Maybe we will do something next year in D.C. when the cost comes WAY DOWN," he added. "Now we can buy some more jet fighters!"

D.C. Mayor Muriel Bowser (D) responded to Trump's tweet with some sarcasm on Twitter, taking credit for "finally" getting through to the "reality star in the White House" about the cost of parades in D.C.

Yup, I’m Muriel Bowser, mayor of Washington DC, the local politician who finally got thru to the reality star in the White House with the realities ($21.6M) of parades/events/demonstrations in Trump America (sad).
