Seriously OP, what are you a child. DH doesn't GET to dictate where or how YOU sleep if he refuses to get help. Odds are that he may need a CPAP, which is no big deal. If he can't take a few simple steps to help than F him - hs can sleep alone. You need your sleep.

So you know OP’s husband must be overweight? My husband is an intense CrossFit junkie who is ripped. Being overweight is not his issue. Snoring like a jet engine was his issue until he had a minor surgery to clear his nasal passages. We’re all sleeping much better now.

Most snoring is weight related. It's a reasonable inference.

Nah. Everyone I know who has sleep apnea (including me) is not overweight. They solved the snoring with a CPAP. What the OP should do is have her husband get a sleep study. It can be done at home. They send you the machine, you wear it for a night, and they tell you what degree of apnea you have.

Going to bed before him helped me, but then it got worse. He has a CPAP now and it makes life much better. He sleeps so much more restfully too.

Firmly place a pillow over his face for five minutes. He may thrash from side to side but that should subside after a couple minutes.

Sweet dreams!

Do you have any facts to back this statement up? The extreme snorers in my extended family are all thin and fit.

My girlfriend snores loudly all night. She has been checked for sleep apnea. I don't really mind the snoring much, I can always get back to sleep.

How did did humans sleep when 20 people were all crammed in one tiny hut or cave?

6:36 here. My husband is 5’11” and 154 pounds and is louder than a chain saw.

Change the height of his pillow? Rule out allergies? These helped us.

Ugh. This is just unacceptable. I’ve been dealing with the snoring with my wife. The refusal to go to the doctor was making me insane. I finally sat down with her and calmly told her that she was being dismissive and disrespectful by refusing to seek medical answers for the snoring. Sleep is a basic need, and sharing a bed with her was important to me. Her snoring was getting in the way. Sure, others will suggest sleeping in another room. But that’s not something I feel I should have to do to accommodate my wife’s unexplained refusal to seek medical help.

The bottom line was that her issue with not wanting to go to a doctor did not trump my need for sleep with my spouse. At first she got defensive. My response was “So what you’re saying is that my basic need for sleep and desire to share a bed every single night with you are less important than your discomfort with going to a doctor for 30 minutes. I should sacrifice sleep so that you don’t have feel uncomfortable going to a doctor.”

She made an appointment the next day.
I wish you a peaceful resolution.

Are you me?

When it’s too bad, I do move into the guest room. A lack of sleep is severely impacting my health, and while it sounds harsh, he doesn’t get to dictate beds. My health comes first.

I sometimes put a small pillow between us to stop him from sleeping in the middle of the bed.

My next step is a king bed. What do you have?

I guess he’s not willing to see a doctor about the snoring?

A white noise machine and ear plugs mostly work for me

How do you manage to sleep when husband is snoring? Or taking up 80% of the bed? Or keeps elbowing you when you are sleeping? And this is way better than he was before.
