I think you think that soccer is more important in the US than it actually is.
Soccer is a little kids sport in the US.
It is for parents of toddlers and preschoolers that want pictures to post on social media.
It is for elementary kids whose parents want to say they are on a travel team.
Soccer is a recreational sport in the US, targeted towards kids. Period.
Soccer is not a sport for older kids or a sport that people are interested in watching at the pro level.
Soccer fills an important niche as a kids sport.

When I talk to other parents that have their kids in travel or DA, it's like they are in a frickin' cult. They have all been massively brain-washed. Grown-*ss adults afraid to speak up for fear their kid will get black-balled by some under-educated douchebag. They are merely a checkbook trying to outmaneuver other parents to gain favor to get their kid to the top of the trash heap. It's repulsive. People I used to consider friends I can't even stomach, listen to or look at anymore they are so balls into this thing and delusional.
And they have American parents by the balls because they succeeded in getting them to fight amongst one another instead of banding together to overturn this shitty US model. You can see it by the replies to these type of threads---'oh woes me, what is there to do?', oh we can't do anything it costs too much $', blah, blah, blah. We have TOO many players to do anything (now that one is RICH!! ha!) imagine a country with our size that knows how to develop.

One of the problems with the US system is that it IDs player early based on physical play and athleticism, not soccer IQ and skill. So you are asking parents who’s kids do well in the system to demand a different evaluation and emphasizes that will in many cases mean their kids will not be the star anymore. Not going to happen!

It is a ridiculous notion to think this can be fixed from the bottom up. It's like saying why isn't my car fast, I put the best gas into it. The reason your car isn't fast is because it was not designed to be fast. Our car (the USSF and our youth soccer system) is not designed to developt the best soccer players from our massive general population. It is a business that develops the best players from those who are willing to pay the price. In our society, it takes money to do this. It will take much more (Yuuge) money to develop a training system that caters to the general population. Until that source of money materializes, nothing will change.

Give me a break. Excuses, excuses. We have crooks in charge getting rich off of parents. WE put together the youth residency program, the DA system, etc. We use that $ for the wrong things. The US crooks don't want it to change. Look how they attack anyone attempting to mess with status quo or do anything outside of THEIR normal established pathway. I hope the Europeans succeed and overtake the market by offering 'intelligence' vs raw athleticism. But---watch how they come out and start attacking them for pissing on their turf. Their turf that they've done NOTHING WITH for men since kids seriously started playing here 4-5 decades ago.
