From an article today in The Athletic, re the Loudoun stadium and training facility:

"In regards to the club’s stadium, it’s expected to be ready by summer of this year. The training facility is another ball of wax; though originally slated to open later in 2019, the club has pushed that date back to sometime in early 2020. One source close to the process suggested that clearing the land for the facility is moving a bit slower than anticipated."

LOL, Maryland's a big state.

From the Bethesda area, Rockville, Silver Spring, Potomac, Gaithersburg? Sure.

From Laurel, Bowie, Oxon Hill, Clinton, Waldorf? NFW

Basically anyone east of 95 is going to have hard time.

Stadium is delayed and the USL team will have to play their first handful of games elsewhere. I didn't do a deep read but it sounds like the county has to do some work before turning it over to DCU.

Resurrecting an old thread to see if there have there been any updates?

I heard it wouldn't happen for another year, then I heard it would be only the U-15s and above moving to Loudon, then I heard everyone is moving out there, then I heard no one really knows.

As a Maryland parent, I'd much rather drive out to Loudoun than down to RFK.

It's a long slog as it is to get to RFK during rush hour from a lot of parts of Maryland.

I wonder what will happen to the Calverton residency program? If they set up a similar program in VA, kids could be weekday boarders as well.

They may lose some Maryland players, but they will add some Virginia players that were not willing to commute to DC. I could see Loudoun soccer losing their top players to DCU.

I know DCU has made announcements of moving to Loudoun, but how far along is it in reality? Have they zoning permission for the fields? Have they broke ground yet on the construction? Will it be 2019-20 or the year after?

Kind of wondering if they will keep some training options open in DC itself or if everyone is expected to move out there. I know some of their DA players are from Maryland and likely unable to make that drive on a regular basis.
