And poison ivy keeps the bratty next door neighbor kids out of your yard as well as being very decorative.

It’s not that bad, just cut it at the bottom and it will die off and in a couple of years will fall off the fence.

It will damage your fence. If it’s truly ivy it’ll be a bear to get off. If it’s Virginia creeper, it’ll be easy to pull off but you’ll have to be persistent.

Subject: Should I let the ivy grow on my fence?
On the other side of my fence, I noticed that there is a lot of ivy. I don't know what kind of ivy it is, but not sure whether that matters. My reaction is that it will damage the wood, possibly lead to rot, and ruin the fence by growing between the spaces, pushing the slats apart. Am I right to be concerned?
