That is how I broke up with my abusive boyfriend when I was a freshman in college.
This is fine for an abusive partner. But OP said her bf wasn’t a bad person. I think a good person could be given a bit more explanation and a kinder opening. When I broke up with the last guy I dated before my second marriage, he was too distraught. I told him that I would sit down face to face and talk about my decision and his feelings in two weeks if he still wanted to. Meanwhile I was going to unfollow and block him. After two weeks, I unblocked him. We had coffee and he was much more in control of himself. We’re actually casual friends today because he had two weeks to pull himself together, but knew he could seek closure.
