We have both and I like Fidelity website better. Otherwise it’s a tossup. Choose no fee index funds.

We put our ira contributions into Vanguard's FTSE Social Index Fund. Low fees & the returns are pretty solid. Lots of people will tell you SRIs aren't worth the lost investment income, but it's worth it to us not to be funding weapons manufacturers. I mean, at least voluntarily-- there's always the bulk of our taxes for doing that, unfortunately!

I don't know much about investing, but my husband and I (early 40s) both max out our retirement accounts through work (his TSP and mine a 403(b) with TIAA-cref). We also put $8000 a year into a 529 for our only child. I got a raise recently and want to open an IRA now. Any suggestion for the best brokerage company to do that with. I've heard Vanguard and Fideltity have the lowest fees. Is there an advantage of one over the other? Is either more socially responsible than the other?
