I've wanted to see Beautiful, the Carole King musical.. I haven't yet but friends have a loved it. Roommate saw Kinky Boots semi-recently with Wayne Brady and thought it was great.

Beautiful is coming to The National.

I love Dear Evan Hansen which I saw at Arena Stage when it was first being developed. It deals with the suicide of a teen and how Evan mistakenly gets taken as a close friend of his and all the kids start an on-line project reaching out to people considering suicide in the name of this kid. As a person who was once an outsider in high school, I related to Evan Hansen strongly. As a mom of a troubled kid who could have easily committed suicide, I related to the parents struggling over how to help their children. Very moving show.

Springsteen on Broadway will be a Netflix special, which would lessen the appeal for me if I had only one show to see.

Another vote for Kinky Boots - the current Lola is also amazing!

I haven't seen Kinky Boots. Maybe that one? (I'm OP)

Summer (Donna Sumer) also looks fun, but like Once on This Island, it's shorter, with no intermission.

Even though it's coming to the Kennedy Center and I could hypothetically see it with DH for a date night?

Looks like I'll have a little time in New York by myself, and I'd love to see a show. Normally I have a husband and two older kids around, so I want to pick something I might not see with them.

Some of the current shows are coming to DC in the next year, so those shows lose points for me, though I'm still open to them. Can't actually guarantee I'll see them when they make it here.

What should I see?
