Usually midnight.

Before they could drive it was midnight because that's about as late as I can make it staying up to drive safely.

After they could drive it was midnight because that's the law in VA for under 18 (no driving midnight-4am).

If they had a ride from another parent or through Uber, they can stay out as late as they want as long as they tell me when they'll be home.

Curfews are for later on when kids are driving and thus are out on their own with some independence.

I know where my 15 yo dd is at any given time (if she's at a friend's and moves to another friend's house, she texts me). So no curfew. Sometimes midnight is fine; other times I want her home by 9. Depends on where she is and what is happening the next day (and, frankly, when *I* want to go to sleep)!

Doubt I would approve anything later than midnight because it would be disrespectful to host's parents, to drive her home or see her off when I had to pick her up.)

Summer - no curfew, but the boys are usually all settled in at one house or another by 9/9:30 (they stay up very late watching movies/playing video game, etc).. Haven't been parties this summer (rising sophomore). During the school year 10 on school nights, 11:30 on weekends.

I've never given DD a curfew. I have worked really hard on teaching DD to "read the room" and know when she should excuse herself.

She tells me where she wants to go, she tells me when she thinks she'll be home and we agree or not. My big issue is how she's getting home safely. I don't like her taking the train home when it's dark.

Do you have one? Is it different depending on Summer versus school year etc?
