That's on Montgomery county officials. Hogan has brought business to MD.

They didn't make any specific deal. No one can reasonably expect that a sector plan will all magically happen right away.

So you’re criticizing MoCo for not giving away free money to wealthy “entrepreneurs” and using taxpayer money to fund a legal fight to seize private property?

You “conservatives” have some funny views about “small government”

Out of curiosity, what don’t you like about Pike and Rose? I don’t think I really have an opinion on it.

MoCo should gladly accept them leaving, for the crime of the awful development that is Pike and Rose.

Discovery was located in MoCo, its the responsibility of locally elected officials in MoCo to ensure they kept Discovery. Your argument is the equivalent of living in a row house and you not cutting your grass because the owner next door is mowing their lawn so they should also mow yours while they are at it.

Here's their list of complaints:
-The state of MD highway authority is being too slow to reconfigure the roads near White Flint (this is out of the county's hands)
-They are complaining that the County is not providing "financial incentives" to remain in MoCo (aka rich f#cks whining that they do not get corporate welfare)
-They are complaining that the County has not issued eminent domain on a nearby Nissan dealership (aka violate the private property rights of a land holder)

They sound like utter douche-nozzles. This is the kind of crap you support? Eminent domain and corporate welfare? Giving taxpayer dollars to wildly profitable businesses?

On the one hand, its for a street, so the emiminent domain would not actually violate the property rights of the Nissan dealership.

On the other hand, eminent domain can be a long and difficult process, so its reasonable that the County try to buy the parcel without using eminent domain. And the new development is not needed for space for Federal Realty. So this is blackmail. So yeah, FR is being douches.

From the article," CEO Donald Wood complained that road upgrade projects have fallen behind schedule, progress is sluggish on creating parks and civic spaces and the county isn’t adequately following through on the goals outlined in the White Flint Sector Plan passed in 2010. Moreover, the county hasn’t seemed receptive to Federal Realty Investment Trust’s push for financial incentives for a new office project, he wrote.

“We had hoped that our actions at Pike & Rose since 2010 (and frankly since our founding in this County decades ago), would have found a sympathetic and proactive ear among County leadership. It didn’t. Just the latest reminder that we’re on our own here, despite lots of words about partnership,” Wood wrote July 9. “It is no wonder that for the first time in our 50+ year history, we are strongly considering a reallocation of a portion of our workforce and capital to other areas in the Metropolitan Washington market.”

Highly disappointed that the county is slow moving on all things. I am happy for term limits but very much upset at the people who continue to vote for stupid leftist policies that affect economic growth and jobs for people.
