Don't think I'd go to Alaska in April.

I think going to British Columbia would be amazing. We’ve gone to Alaska. No cruise and no Denali because I didn’t want my kids ( 6 and 8) at the time to ride a bus for 8 hours and I didn’t want the crowds. We picked two areas, each about 3 hours from Anchorage. First was the Matanuska Valley
Terrific hiking on a glacier, rafting, etc. and then Seward. Amazing both places. Alaska is so big that you just have to reconcile you will see a tiny sliver of it.

Can you post your itinerary/places you stayed from your Oregon-CA trip?

How about Galapagos island?

April is a great time for those parks.

Seems counter-intuitive, but what about NYC? You can spend a lot of time in Central Park, walking, visiting outdoor sites like the Statue of Liberty, the Intrepid (outdoor and indoor). And if the weather is bad you have non-boring museum and performance options as well as indoor rock climbing and bowling.

We had a fabulous time in the CA redwoods last year. Sounds right up your alley. We did hikes every day, took a long drive on an incredibly scenic road, drove up to the Redwood National Forest, etc. Could also combo it with a bit of time in SF (which we did unintentionally via a flight delay) which is a fun city for a day.

Our kids are outdoorsy types. They get whiny and bored when looking at old buildings and museums.

Trips that have been successful for us (not over spring break): St. Lucia, Grand Cayman, Iceland, Vancouver, Banff, Belize, Costa Rica, Disney, Disney cruise to Bahamas, San Diego. We're not really skiers (we do ski but don't want to do a whole week of it).

Any ideas for a trip that would be best taken in mid April? Fwiw, we're planning to go to Ireland in the summer of 2019.

TIA for any suggestions!
