it was an IUI so yes my own eggs...
FSH was always under 10 (dozens of tests), estradiol - mid twenties. AMH was low for years (it was about .80 at 39).
I've had short cycles (25 days) for many years and the cycle that worked at 44 was longer (e2 rose two days later than usual; ovulated two days later as well. It was an unmedicated IUI timed with OPK

Are you going to Shady Grove? I'm not surprised they would say that as they don't really do it. It's what Dominion does a lot of. They are the pioneers in it. I wasn't willing to pump myself full of drugs and at a cost of about 1/4 of regular IVF I decided to try it. It worked on the first time for me. Why not try it? What do you have to lose? It's a very simple procedure and I'd compare it to IUI. You can do it month after month if you need to. You just have to ovulate.

Yes, shady grove has always dismissed natural cycle IVF. That doesn't mean it's not effective in the right circumstances. (It probably means it's just not as profitable for SGF.)

I have the same reaction to you that IUI would be a waste of time and money at 42. If you are a poor responder I'd consider donor egg or embryo adoption if you want another child.

This doesn't mean that IUI has a better chance of working just that they both have terrible odds of working.

My AHM was .3 at age 34. I tried for years, but eventually got pregnant naturally. At 37 when I was retested, my AHM was <.01. I did actual cycle IVF. My RE (Dominion) said that with DOR letting "the best egg" come forward is often the way to go. I would look into NC IVF. I think that in my case, my eggs were hard and not able to fertilize as I never had BFPs. That's why NC IVF worked. I did ICSI as well. Good luck to you. I would not waste any time or money on IUI at age 42.

Yes my dr said with my numbers (terrible, AMH .1) and age (over 40), that IUI is equally successful (or NOT successful) as IVF and a lot cheaper. Just a weird mind-shift bc I thought IVF would be the holy grail

Has anyone had success with IUIs over 40? My dr said he has had success over 40 with IUIs or spontaneous pgs but no IVFs-

did 3 IUIs at 41 with decent numbers. i thought it was a waste of time and money. but also did 2 IVFs at 42 and also waste of time and money. DE worked, but that's a huge mind-leap.

My doctor said the same thing as you, because I have such abysmal DOR (0.3 AMH, 3-5 AFC) she said that IUI might offer me the same chance as IVF but is cheaper.

I was given less than a 10% chance of success at age 40 for IVF, also secondary infertility. Had my first at 36 after getting pregnant right away. Started TTC #2 at age 37. It's now been 4 years and zero pregnancies. But at 40 I was also given less than a 1% chance to get pregnant on my own, so that is less than IVF.

We decided to just TTC on our own and if I get pregnant, I get pregnant, but so far it's been 4 years/50 eggs/4 IUIs and no pregnancies.

I have one DS who is 2. Tried IVF once and was a poor responder, got pg naturally. Have been trying for #2 for several months now. My #s are dismal, and my RE said that in many cases, IVF doesn't work or actually becomes counter productive, and suggested IUI and timed intercourse may have the same outcome as IVF at my age and with my #s. Needless to say, this was disheartening. I always heard IUIs were a waste of time over 40 (I did 3 at SG at 38 to no avail). Does anyone have any experience or advice in this situation?
