I have had two Sonatas now. Had to replace the first only due to an accident and the 2nd is going strong 8 years later (2010). I have had literally zero problems with either. They are GREAT cars.

We have a 2015 Sonata. So happy with it. It has been through the wear and tear of two teenage drivers. We haven’t needed a repair yet and have similar mileage. The car feels new still! A big reason why we got it was because of its high safety ratings/features.

Very reliable. We still have the Hyundai Elantra I bought new in 2003. No major issues, just normal wear and tear and upkeep.

It is very reliable. We have two Hyundai cars, the Santa Fe and the Elantra, both 2010. We bought the Elantra secondhand in 2011 with 11,000 miles on it.

We have had zero problems.

Hyundai gives a very long (five-year) warranty, which you will probably get the benefit of if you purchase it.


OP, it is five years or 60,000 miles so close to that. There is also 10 years 100,000 miles for the engine but is that one of those things where you had to get EVERY oil change at a Hyundai dealer?

I wouldn't. even last night, there was a report (ABC World News Tonight) about Kia (Hyundai is the parent co of Kia) and some Hyundai models catching fire.

We have '07 and '09 Hyundais and no complaints here. As someone else mentioned, the five-year/100K warranty is great. Our '09 has about 158K miles on it and barring regular maintenance is still going strong, and we hope and plan on it doing the same for many years to come.

We have a 2009 and 2010 Santa Fe, both purchased used with about 15,000 miles. Haven't had one problem with either car, after suffering with lemon Nissans and Hondas. Highly recommend.
