PP thank you for the info! I've been on DHEA for a while, don't feel any different but maybe it's improving my eggs...

I would strongly encourage the original poster to research DHEA and coQ10 to improve her egg quality and numbers. Clinics in NY and CA seem to have better outcomes with older women than the DC metro area centers. (More experience? Older patient population?)

I gave up on SGFTC because they ignored the bad indicators in my bloodwork (TSH shot through the roof with last pregnancy thus killing the embies) and the next round they implanted while my TSH was still higher than what Thyroid.org recommends for a good chance of pregnancy and implantation. I can't fault anyone person. I dealt with a different person every step of the way at SGFTC and that didnt' help. No one person was monitoring things and when I had concerns it was too late. IVF is expensive and everything I learned about older women and different protocols that are having better success rates emotionally I went from "I'm sad it didn't work" to "WTF - you ignorant money-grubbing-fools HOW could you not have KNOWN this!?!?"

DO NOT RELY on the doctors to get all your blood work and panels correct and in optimal shape pre-IVF. DON'T! Get your vitamins checked. Get your test for thyroid antibodies (most doctors DO NOT test for that, only TSH.) Get ALL your relevant hormone levels checked and then do your OWN research online. OBTW - if your DHEA is low, which is common for older women, your egg quality will be low too. 90 days of extra DHEA can help improve the eggs that are developing. It takes a while for it to have an effect. WARNING - DHEA has its dangerous aspects. DISCUSS this with your primary physician and have him test your levels first.

After doing my research I'm looking at a firm in St. Louis and Dominion Fertility as their doctors seem open to trying these newer protocols for older patients.

Good luck.

What are your numbers? At GW also and my numbers aren't dismal (FSH 14, AMH .7, AFC 8), and they gave me 30-40% odds with regular IVF. I've hear Dominion is good for DOR and natural cycle IVF.

If you are 40 you might still qualify for shared risk at Shady Grove. It seems so much easier to go to a place in the area. They know what the other clinics do and will work with you. Do you not qualify for shared risk due to your numbers?

Yes. Dr. Davis is widely considered a DOR expert. One of the others I've heard mentioned is Dr. Sher at SIRM. I know the other poster on this thread is super passionate about Dr. Grifo and I think he's awesome for genetic stuff but I've had friends with low AMH/DOR that he has refused to work with so take that however you'd like. Some clinics are just not good for DOR, I was at CCRM before I knew I had DOR as my numbers weren't so bad and think they're a great clinic but not good for DOR/not practical for DOR. I'd also look into mini IVF.

Why is Dr. Grifo good....at every issue? What was suggested that was so above the rest?

10:45 PP here. I wasn't advanced maternal age. Last DC I had at 37.5 years old.

But Dr. Grifo is good for EVERY issue - including AMA

Dr. Davis at Cornell is always recommended for advanced maternal age

I had 3 kids with Jamie Grifo in NYC at NYU - I personally LOVE NYU and think Grifo is THE best.

Looking for advice, I've been a patient at SGF since 2014, had one successful IVF there in 2015. My age and numbers are far worse 3 years on since that pregnancy and I am in my last ditch efforts to give my kid a sibling (recently had 2 failed FET's that were banked from the 2015 cycle). Where should I go? I'm done with Shady Grove. Cornell? CCRM in Denver? Any thoughts, experience, help much appreciated.
