It's annoying, but it is even worse to be on the other end of those calls. I had a boss who would call me and try to conduct business from EVERYWHERE - home, car, bus, airport, train, whatever. I never felt like I had his full attention, there was always too much noise, he was distracted and distracting, and it was never productive. I think the jerk was just trying to make us feel like he was important or special because of how hard he was "working."

I commuted every day on Amtrak for 2 years. IMO the cafe car is the only place that’s allowed.

Sure thing. And I assume that if the chattering kid or lady watching Shark Tank got in the way of your call, you'd spring for a private car.

Then don’t be in the cafe car. That’s where I always say with my son on Amtrak because no one cared if he was quiet, and he could chatter away the entire train ride.

The guy sitting at the table with me has been on his phone the ENTIRE time. I get that we are not in the quiet car- but he legit has been on work calls since we left NY. Just annoying. He has also kicked me twice and didn't apologize because he was on phone.
