Just to add - I didn’t use tampons until I lost my virginity between freshman and sophomore year in college. Hopefully the easier applicators will help my DD master tampons sooner.

honestly this is silly. It's not 1700. A slim tampon is MAYBE 20% the size of a hard penis. Plenty of virgins use them - like, all girls in early teens.

Um, NO. Ther is nothing to “master.” Explain to her how to put it in. She needs to deal if she wants to swim during that time of the month.

Skip tampons and go straight for menstrual cups.

Use junior tampons with the plastic applicator. If needed, she could use a little coconut oil.

You need to help her learn. I was a swimmer and it wasn't an option - my mom sucked it up and helped me the first few times.

What no. Lifeguards pulled a panty liner out of the neighborhood pool this weekend. Gross. Sorry to say tampon or no swimming.

Sorry, OP, I know it’s a bother until she’s able to use a tampon, especially when the period lingers on and on.

No. Help your DD, or no swimming.

Nope. DD "mastered" a tampon on her first period. Hasn't looked back. Is now considering some sort of cup.

You avoid swimming until they can use a tampon. A pad is not an option.

How long is her period? Can't you do other fun things in those 2 or 3 days that shes out of the water -a day trip together, catch a cheap matinee, have her invite a friend over, whatever.

DD is 11 and hasn’t yet mastered a tampon; she’s working on it. I haven’t let her swim in the pool, and i don’t intend to; of course she’s miserable. I’m just wondering what others do.
