Don't rule out mainstreams. We did one and it worked out really well. Didn't look at Green Acres due to price and teaching style but there are some welcoming. My child made the most leaps after 1st grade so K age was very deceiving. For us, it was the small class size where teacher had time to take the time with each child, especially mine that made a huge difference. No way my child would have survived in a classroom of 24+ kids like they can now at that age.

It matters how impacted your child is and whether there are behavior issues. If issue is mild:

My child did pre-k at Maddux and then K at McLean.

If she is can function in a classroom, send her to a regular private. Some are flexible. We went to one that was great but had a ton of staffing/owner changes and I wouldn't recommend them anymore as the staff who were so good to my child are no longer there.

Look at Holy Cross if you are ok with religious schools. I looked at them and liked them and they seemed fine with language delays (said they have kids with language delays). (I looked at a few others and did not like them).

I didn't look at any of the privates over $16-20K but some of the regular privates may be open if you can afford them. If there are learning issues, I'd go to Maddux but if child is just behind due to language, then any private with small classes is fine or willing to support.
