I do look up the candidates' positions, but I tend to rely on the recommendations of groups whose judgement I trust, such as the Maryland State Education Association which has their own list of who they like. Most local newspapers also have their own recommendations which can be useful information. I find that there are several offices I simply do not care about, such as Register of Wills or Orphans' Court Judge. I usually leave those blank unless I've already taken up a position. There is absolutely no way I could quickly research the dozens of choices for the Democratic Central Committee. I did look at the names to see if there was anyone I already knew but there wasn't, so I left it completely blank.
