A close cousin should be more than a close friend.

There is no right amount of it depends on your circumstances. $108 is totally fine. $54 would also be fine. Friends do not judge each other on gift size.

I agree with this. I have given $180 a few times but that is rare. I think $108 is a nice amount to give and our usual. Do what you can afford. In talking to my SIL after my nieces, it seemed most close friends gave around $100.

When our kids attend a classmates without us, we give $36. For a BFF, we give $54.

i would give a multiple of 18 - "... It is a Jewish custom to give monetary gifts in increments of 18, thus symbolically blessing the recipient of the gift with a good long life."

I think $100 for your best friend's daughter is fine - round up or down to the nearest multiple of 18.

$100 would be more than adequate.
