+1. There are just so many seats at HYP. You have some. You can't have them all. No one is the only game in town. There are others in this game too.

Well, if you believe scoring well on tests that can be drilled for heavily is the only measure a hiring manager or grad school admissions committee looks at to evaluate a candidate, then sure. That will work out that way.

I think having a well-rounded candidate that has internal resources to work well with others and stick through hard times or failures is also often valued, but you know. Whatever they are looking for, that's what they will look for.

It won't be the kids that boycott, it will be the hiring managers and graduate admissions committees.
a) The reason for demand for these schools is that these schools are viewed as a golden ticket to wealth and power.
b) They are viewed that way because of hiring preferentially from those schools.
c) Hiring is from those schools because admissions practices allow hiring managers to use admission to those schools as a proxy for intelligence.
d) Admissions practices have changed to de-emphasize intelligence in favor of other factors.
e) Admission to these schools cannot be viewed a s proxy for intelligence.
f) Hiring preference will end or decrease.
g) Demand for the schools will decrease.

Game theory. Even if 100% Asians agreed to a boycott, 99.9% of them would then secretly apply. If rejected, they can claim they adhered to the boycott. If accepted, they'd say oh well, my kid's going to HYPS!

Sadly they probably won't care - they would just figure out a scheme to draw apps from some other population.

Not just Asians, everyone should boycott universities with intentionally discriminatory admission policies. Even if you 'benefit' from the practice, is that really how you want to win? And do you really want the prize? The racism never stops at the door.

If a given applicant wants to go to and graduate from a university that solely focuses on exam scores and GPS to select applicants, then that is exactly what they should do.

Yes, colleges should pick students based on a multiple choice exam on elementary algebra and geometry where students can dramatically increase their score by taking prep classes.

Schools can use whatever criteria they want, but at least the data should be publicly available so that Asian Americans are not bamboozled into applying to some schools.
