At DC's N Arlington elem school, straight As are handed out way too liberally. Our experience was lax standards and poor writing instruction. Depending on the year and who the class teacher was, GT designation also meant nothing. Honor roll at our school was a useless designation.

My kid had straight As all 12 quarters when grades were given and there was never any recognition.

I had no idea our school even had an honor roll until a notice came home in my kid’s backpack today. Does this mean anything at all beyond the postcard? What does a kid have to do to make honor roll anyway?
