I work in recruiting and also know a lot of people in HR. We don't take U of P or any similar degrees serious. If it's a requirement for the job to have a specific degree, those candidates are not considered.

It's mostly a scam. University of Phoenix has a low graduation rate and is hella expensive. It saddles people with a lot of debt. It is useless.
There are much better online programs available from state schools and from more legitimate outfits like Western Governors University.

You are far better off taking online courses with a real brick and mortar university like the University of Maryland (or any other state university).
They do offer in person classroom instruction, the model is designed for working adults and if you're experienced and just need the piece of paper to check a box, it's not a bad gig. There is learning to be done. It's expensive but so is grad school.

While University of Phoenix does have HLC accreditation, they are known for being a for-profit degree mill and many employers won't take the degree seriously. Transfering credits to another university will be hit or miss.
You are far better off taking online courses with a real brick and mortar university like the University of Maryland (or any other state university).
