Yep. Alexa Ray Joel is a perfect example. She got all the wrong features of each parent. It's horribly sad and I can't help but wonder if that's a part of why she tried to kill herself. She should have come out beautiful and instead she looks like Billy Joel instead of her model mother, whose OTHER children got her genes instead somehow.


Alexa is beautiful.

Have you seen pictures of her as an adult?

She is far more stunning than Christie Brinkley's other kids.

The product of an action star and a supermodel who unfortunately took after the action star. Not to mention her mom dating Ashton Kutcher at the time who wasn't even a decade older than her.

But having famous parents got her a lot of things she normally wouldn't have access to. Like numerous television and movie roles + a $1 million house at 20 years old.

It's the same with Chelsea Clinton and Meghan McCain. Clinton more than McCain was lambasted but they both got $200K/year jobs right out of COLLEGE on network television. You think they worked to earn those salaries from 18-21? Hell no. Mommy and daddy bought them the jobs with connections.

Chelsea Clinton is quite bright and a 200k job is not that big a deal - at least it’s a job. Anyway, it’s refreshing to see Bill not leave a clueless wake of destruction for one of his friends/relatives/aquaintances/innocent bystanders too. There’s a first.

I have a very marginally famous parent who is humiliating. The hardest part is being seen as xyz’s kid rather than your own person. I am loathe to discuss my family and have worked hard to create my own life/identity for this reason.

Yes. But I think the paparazzi should be banned. The children should be protected like the Presidents children are (meaning, not allowed to be photographed) but they aren’t.

They didn’t ask to be in the spotlight, and it’s probably hard to make friends because everyone wants to know your parents.

I can’t imagine what it’s like being Suri or Shiloh.

I don't feel sorry for Ivanka either. She probably got a $50 million gift upon graduating college. But at least the Trumps don't 'pretend' to be meritocratic.

I really do. It's not the cushy life of being born into cushy wealth. Being thrust into the spotlight from birth has to be terrifying and weird. In life, too, people will try to be close to you just because of who your parents are.

I just think that when one or both of your parents are famous, it's hard to be your own person. If Zac Efron had a daughter named Natalie, instead of being thought of as "Natalie", she would be thought of as "Zac Efron's daughter". We all want to be thought of as individuals, not as "so-and-so's child". There are also really high expectations on them, and all of their accomplishments and viewed as less impressive, because it was expected of them.
