It is a great school, and I know a lot of highly successful alumni who remain connected to St. Lawrence.

But man, it is a PITA to get to. That's why DC chose a different, but similar-vibe school.

Which other schools did you find had similar vibes?

It is a great school, and I know a lot of highly successful alumni who remain connected to St. Lawrence.

We lived in that area for a couple of years. It's lovely in the summer, but has absolutely brutal winters. Your kid has to like cold and snow - endless cold and snow.

On the bright side, it's not too far from Ottawa/Montreal or Lake Placid for skiing.

I visited last summer with my son. It is a lovely campus in a lovely little town. Strong liberal arts curriculum, supportive faculty and really nice group of kids. The downside is that the campus is very, very isolated. It is closer to Montreal than anything. No major highways that lead there, you have to take a lot of back roads. It is beautiful but you have to be okay with being out in the middle of nowhere.

DD is a junior in high school and we are planning to visit colleges this summer. Her guidance counselor said that St. Lawrence would be a good academic fit for her, but we really don't know much about the school except our school's Naviance data. She plays field hockey and is potentially looking at playing in college. Is St. Lawrence worth the trip if we are looking at schools like Kenyon, Denison, Bowdoin, Bates, Trinity, etc.?
